The Philadelphia Phillies announced the signing of former Los Angeles Dodgers reliever Edward Paredes to a Minor League contract that includes an invitation to Spring Training.

Paredes, 32, saw the bulk of his work during the 2018 season with Triple-A Oklahoma City. With the Dodgers’ top Minor League affiliate, he went 3-2 with a 3.79 ERA and 1.57 WHIP in 35.2 innings pitched (36 games). The left-hander recorded two saves with 41 strikeouts against 19 walks.

Paredes additionally enjoyed a brief Major League stint with the Dodgers, accumulating a 2-0 record, 5.87 ERA, 5.64 FIP and 1.17 WHIP over 7.2 innings of work across 15 appearances. He was solid early on, holding the opposition scoreless through his first 10 outings.

Paredes was designated for assignment in early July, but cleared waivers and remained with Oklahoma City for the final two months of the regular season.

Paredes spent parts of two seasons with the Dodgers after being selected from the Cleveland Indians in the 2016 Rule 5 Draft. During that span he pitched to a 4.50 ERA, 3.78 FIP and 1.06 WHIP across 16 innings pitched (25 MLB appearances).

In 10 Minor League seasons, Paredes owns a career 38-40 record, 4.28 ERA and 1.44 WHIP with 550 strikeouts over 574 innings (324 games, 46 starts).

The Phillies mark the 32-year-old’s fifth organization, having previously spent time with the Seattle Mariners, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, Indians and Dodgers.
