Dodgers Vs. Rockies Game Preview: Bobby Miller Makes First Start Since April

The Los Angeles Dodgers completed a historic comeback on Tuesday night and now can clinch a series win against the Colorado Rockies.

Sitting atop the National League West standings with a nine-game cushion over the second-place Arizona Diamondbacks, the Dodgers have also excelled in road matchups by going 22-14 away from Dodger Stadium thus far.

Bobby Miller gets the ball for his first start since April 10, having been sidelined with right-shoulder inflammation. Miller wasn’t overly impressive in the three starts prior to his injury, posting a 5.40 ERA and 1.46 WHIP with 18 strikeouts in 11.2 innings.

The 25-year-old made two rehab starts for Single-A Rancho Cucamonga and two more with Triple-A Oklahoma City before the Dodgers cleared him to return. Miller has said he’s feeling healthy and happy to be returning to the active roster.

Miller is opposed by Ryan Feltner, who is making his 15th start of the season. The 27-year-old owns a 5.71 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and is averaging 7.97 strikeouts per nine innings.

Feltner is coming off a three-game run where he’s allowed 12 earned runs on 19 hits over 16.1 innings. He hasn’t faced the Dodgers this year.

He has a tough task against a Dodgers lineup that ranks second in the league against righties, posting a 121 wRC+ with a .250 team batting average in those matchups.

The Dodgers enter play with the third-best offense in Major League Baseball during the month of June, totaling a 139 wRC+, they’ve created traffic of their own with an 11.7% walk rate in that span.

Shohei Ohtani remains in the leadoff spot of the Dodgers lineup but Freddie Freeman is back to hitting second with Will Smith receiving a night off. Teoscar Hernández is batting third and Andy Pages was moved up to the cleanup spot.
