The Los Angeles Dodgers’ series opener on Monday afternoon against the New York Mets at Citi Field was postponed due to weather with heavy rain in the forecast. The two clubs will play a doubleheader on Tuesday, beginning at 1:10 p.m. PT.

The second game will begin roughly 30 minutes following the end of the first game, but no earlier than 4:10 p.m. PT.

Tyler Glasnow is scheduled to start the first game, and he’ll face off against José Quintina, which was originally the planned matchup for Tuesday. The Dodgers will start Gavin Stone in the second game as he was originally scheduled to start Monday.

The Mets planned to start Tyler Megill, but it is unclear if they will still hand him the ball on Tuesday.

The unplanned off day gives both teams the chance to reset as they have been struggling as of late. The Dodgers are currently on a five-game losing streak and have gone 4-6 in their last 10 games.

The Mets have not fared better, going 3-7 in their last 10, but they did end a five-game losing streak of their own on Sunday against the San Francisco Giants.

Prior to the game being delayed, the Dodgers announced their lineup with Miguel Vargas in left field and Jason Heyward in center field, a notable development amid the continued struggles of their outfield options. Miguel Rojas was also in the lineup at third base.

The Dodgers may very well go with the same lineup for the second game, but some changes should be expected in the first game with a southpaw on the mound. Austin Barnes should also be expected to start one of the games.

Dodgers offense ‘running cold’

The Dodgers’ offensive struggles continued on Sunday with a 4-1 loss to the Cincinnati Reds on Sunday.

Their offense mustered only run on five hits in the contest, leaving four on base and going 1-for-8 with runners in scoring position. It marked the sixth time in the last 16 games that L.A. scored one or fewer runs.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said the offense has not been getting it done lately and needs to find a solution. The Dodgers’ offense has been on a downward spiral for the better part of three weeks as they are averaging only 3.5 runs over their last 17 games.
