The Los Angeles Dodgers honored Spanish-language broadcaster Jaime Jarrín before Friday night’s game against the San Diego Padres, inducting him into the Dodger Stadium Ring of Honor. He joins Vin Scully as the only non-players to receive the honor.
The pregame ceremony included tributes from other colleagues and friends with whom Jarrín has built relationships with throughout his 60 years with the Dodgers. The speakers included Jarrín’s former broadcast partners Pepe Yñiguez and Fernando Valenzuela as well as fellow Hall-of-Fame broadcaster Vin Scully.
In addition to the speeches, the Dodgers also played a tribute video recapping Jarrín’s career with the team, narrated by actor and director Edward James Olmos. They shared the video and a clip of Scully embracing Jarrín, via Twitter:

Jarrí became the 12th person inducted into the Ring of Honor, joining Scully, Pee Wee Reese, Tommy Lasorda, Duke Snider, Jim Gilliam, Don Sutton, Walter Alston, Sandy Koufax, Roy Campanella, Jackie Robinson and Don Drysdale.
Unlike Scully, who was inducted after he retired from broadcasting, Jarrín is still moving along in his career. The 82-year-old also recently signed a two-year extension to remain in the broadcast booth through the 2020 season.
