Dodgers Video: Vin Scully Details ‘Treasures Of Baseball’ Auction On CBS Sunday Morning

Los Angeles Dodgers legendary broadcaster Vin Scully’s career may be over, but that doesn’t mean he is done with the sport of baseball and making an impact in the community.

Scully recently announced he will be auctioning off what he is calling his ‘treasures of baseball.’ It consists of items and memorabilia he collected during his 60 years as the primary broadcaster of the Dodgers.

Some of the items Scully will be auctioning off on Hunt Auctions include World Series trophies, World Series rings, presidential autographs and plenty of awards he has won over the years. Also, some of Scully’s personal items, namely the bike he rode to games, which includes notes he wrote to himself, a Babe Ruth signed business card.

The Ruth signed card is something that one of baseball’s legends gave to him personally when he was younger, although Scully joked that he had to find it before putting it up for auction as he wasn’t sure where it was.

The online auctions will begin later this month, and all of the proceeds are going to Scully’s five children, 16 grandchildren and to charity.

While a lot of these items are very expensive, priceless even for Scully, who has been through and seen some much in his baseball career, the 92-year-old conceded that it wasn’t hard to decide to give them away as it is supporting a greater cause.

Any Dodger or sports fan that is familiar with Scully knows how selfless he is, so it comes as no surprise that he wants to share some of the cool things he has accumulated throughout his life.

Scully joins social media

In addition to his auction, Scully is also beginning to interact with fans online as he recently created both Twitter and Instagram accounts. Scully joked though that he won’t be using social media for any controversy, instead just wanting to share stories and his knowledge with the world.

It’s hard to imagine any fans causing trouble of Scully’s social media pages as many are just thankful to hear his voice again after he has largely been out of the spotlight since retiring after the 2016 season.
