Mookie Betts is one of the biggest stars in Major League Baseball and has many fans from different parts of the world.

The Los Angeles Dodgers All-Star recently surprised students at Matsusen Elementary School in Ota City, Tokyo, Japan, as part of MLB’s “Play Ball” initiative, which aims to promote baseball among young players.

The clinic included 30 third graders and 30 fourth graders who were eager to learn about the fundamentals of baseball. Among the highlights were Betts throwing batting practice to players, showcasing his skills and demonstrating techniques.

Betts encouraged the students to ask questions and shared his insights about the game. The three-time World Series champion’s visit not only provided the students with valuable lessons on the field but also an experience they will never forget.

Betts additionally discussed the Dodgers facing the Chicago Cubs in Tokyo to kick off the 2025 MLB season. The highly anticipated series will feature Japanese stars Shohei Ohtani, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Roki Sasaki, Seiya Suzuki and Shota Imanaga.

The two-game set will take place at the Tokyo Dome on March 18 and 19, with start times of 7:10 p.m. local (3:10 a.m. PT) for both games.

Prior to the Tokyo Series, the Dodgers will play exhibition games against the Yomiuri Giants and Hanshin Tigers on March 15 and March 16, respectively.

Mookie Betts part of Dodgers’ meeting with Roki Sasaki

Betts has played a large part in the Dodgers’ recruiting efforts of free agents in recent years and that again transpired when the team recently met with Sasaki.

Betts was reportedly part of a Dodgers contingent that included Ohtani and Freddie Freeman, among other players.
