Dodgers Video: Kiké Hernandez Sparks Rally With Home Run Off Indians’ Andrew Miller

The Los Angeles Dodgers held a 2-0 lead over the Cleveland Indians for much of Tuesday’s game. Brandon McCarthy carried a shutout into the sixth inning and exited with two runners on and one out.

Grant Dayton allowed the Indians to get on the board via a sacrifice fly before putting an end to the inning. Jose Ramirez hit a solo home run off Pedro Baez in the seventh to tie the game. That was followed by Andrew Miller entering in a high-leverage situation a second time in as many games.

Miller retired Yasiel Puig but gave up a go-ahead home run to pinch-hitter Kiké Hernandez. It was Miller’s second home run surrendered this season; the first came to Cody Bellinger on Tuesday.

Hernandez’s homer was the start of a four-run inning for the Dodgers. Corey Seager reached on an infield single, and Miller then walked Justin Turner and Bellinger to load the bases. Yasmani Grandal grounded into what initially appeared to be an inning-ending double play.

However, the Dodgers challenged the call at second base because Erik Gonzalez wasn’t near the bag. The out call was overturned and a run scored on the play. Zach McAllister replaced Miller and promptly allowed a two-run single to Chris Taylor.

Luis Avilan and Pedro Baez each allowed a run in the bottom of the eighth before Kenley Jansen entered in the ninth to convert a save in the Dodgers’ 6-4 win.
