The epicenter was hundreds of miles away, but Dodger Stadium received a substantial jolt during the fourth inning of Friday’s game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres. Preliminary reports have pegged the earthquake between a 6.9 and 7.1 magnitude.

The large quake was a second to rattle the region in as many days. The Ridgecrest, Calif., area has been unsteady since the Fourth of July holiday was interrupted by a 6.2 magnitude earthquake that was the largest in Southern California in nearly 20 years.

Fans were initially slow to realize Dodger Stadium was beginning to shake, and the players largely carried on without issue. Padres starter Eric Lauer successfully threw three pitches during the quake, and Kiké Hernandez also appeared unfazed.

The SportsNet LA cameras located throughout Chavez Ravine accurately depicted the unsettling scene. Players in the Dodgers bullpen came out from underneath their sitting area bleachers to stand by the gate.

Hernandez saw three pitches after the shaking stopped, and flied out to end the inning. Other than briefly stepping out of the batter’s box after fouling a pitch off, there was not any sort of pause or delay in the game. It continued even as reports of aftershocks consumed social media.

Along with Southern California, the quake was felt in Phoenix, Las Vegas and other regions.
