As the Los Angeles Dodgers were concluding their homestand earlier this week, Taylor Swift began her stretch of six consecutive sold-out shows at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood as part of her record-breaking The Eras Tour.

Swift released her 10th studio album, “Midnights,” last October, and it quickly set a record for the most streams on Spotify in a single day. The album has since become certified double platinum, led by “Anti-Hero” as a chart-topping single.

Although Swift’s current tour features songs from her latest album, it’s also a career celebration. The pop star’s influence and songs are widespread, even within the Los Angeles Dodgers clubhouse.

Manager Dave Roberts, Clayton Kershaw, Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman and more revealed themselves to be ‘Swifties’ of sorts and chose their favorite songs upon arriving at Dodger Stadium.

Kershaw has previously been known to share his affinity for Swift’s music over the years. It was fitting the left-hander chose Swift’s “22” as his favorite song.

Betts and Freeman joined Kershaw with the same selection. Freeman jokingly added that he wished he was 22 years old again. David Peralta followed that up that his daughter’s pick was “Shake It Off” before doing his best to sing the chorus.

Although Roberts was not able to pick a favorite Swift song, he did his best to hype up the pop star. Roberts said that he attended one of her shows in Arizona after hummed the melody of “Love Story,” one of her earliest hit songs.

As of July 2023, Swift is one of the most successful female musicians ever, with 212 charted songs, 119 top-40 hits, and most No. 1 debuts, with five.

Does Clayton Kershaw wear 22 for Taylor Swift song?

Although Kershaw’s jersey number correlates with Swift’s “22” song, that is not the reason behind the longtime Dodgers ace wearing it.

During a Zoom party in May 2020, a number of Dodgers players joined former players, broadcasters and celebrities, for a fun interactive call with fans.

Kershaw was one of the hits of the chat, taking a number of questions, revealing that as a kid growing up in Dallas, he idolized Texas Rangers’ Will Clark. The former All-Star first baseman wore No. 22, the driving force behind Kershaw choosing to wear the same number in the big leagues.
