While Cody Bellinger has been turning heads with the Los Angeles Dodgers, his former Triple-A Oklahoma City teammate, Alex Verdugo, is on a tear of his own. Verdugo went 3-for-5 with an RBI in Friday’s win, extending his career-best hitting streak to 20 games in the process.

He’s batting a blistering .476/.522/.671 with six doubles, two triples, two home runs and 12 RBI over that stretch. What’s more, the smooth-hitting outfielder has produced 14 multi-hit games, including five games with three hits, during the streak.

Verdugo is in his first extended experience with Oklahoma City. He enters play Saturday hitting .352/.420/.467 with 14 doubles, three home runs and 38 RBI.

Verdugo spent last season with Double-A Tulsa and only joined the Dodgers’ top affiliate for the Pacific Coast League championship.

This year, his batting average and on-base percentage rank third in the PCL, and 95 total hits are good for fifth overall.

Verdugo was among four Oklahoma City players named to the 2017 Triple-A All-Star Game, and he’s also set to represent the Dodgers organization on the World Team in the 2017 Futures Game.

The Dodgers selected the 21-year-old out of high school in the second round of the 2014 Draft. Verdugo has since gone on to establish himself as one of the top hitting prospects in the organization.
