On June 10 of this season, Corey Seager and the Los Angeles Dodgers were in the midst of a three-game set against the Cincinnati Reds, and alerady captured the series opener at Dodger Stadium. With a 37-25 record, the Dodgers were steadily hitting their hottest stretch of the season.

In his first start off the disabled list, Alex Wood put together a quick 1-2-3 inning. The Dodgers would then get their offense rolling, with a series of hits putting runs on the board. After Chase Utley singled to right field, Seager promptly knocked a double to deep left field, scoring Utley.

After moving up a base on a fly out, Seager scored on an Adrian Gonzalez sacrifice fly. With two outs and the bases empty, rookie Cody Bellinger crushed a solo home run to give the Dodgers a 3-0 lead in the first inning.

With the Reds chasing three runs in in the sixth, they brought the tying run to the plate after a hit by pitch and single. Wood struck out Scott Schebler before giving way to Josh Fields.

A matchup against against Devin Mesoraco went in the Reds’ favor, as the catcher hit a game-tying home run on the second pitch he saw.

While the Dodgers lost their lead, it set the stage for what became a common occurrence at Dodger Stadium this season — a walk-off win. Yasiel Puig began the rally in the bottom of the ninth with a base hit to left field.

Justin Turner, who pinch-hit for Kenley Jansen, also singled to left, putting runners on first and second. After Franklin Gutierrez struck out swinging, Seager stepped to the plate with a chance to play the role of hero.

Seager, in typical fashion, crushed a first-pitch fastball down the left-field line. His double lifted the Dodgers to a 5-4 win, and the walk-off hit was the first of Seager’s career.
