Dodgers Top Highlights From 2017 Season: No. 3, Yasiel Puig Says ‘I’ll See You In The World Series’ After Walk-Off Hit

The Los Angeles Dodgers went into their Aug. 16 game against the Chicago White Sox with a 49-9 record in their last 58 games, good for one of the most historic stretches in MLB history. That Wednesday night was also noteworthy, because Yu Darvish made his Dodger Stadium debut.

Darvish’s first home start for the Dodgers was spoiled, as the White Sox touched him up for three runs on eight hits in six innings. Each of their runs scored came via the long ball. Nicky Delmonico hit a second home run in the game, giving the White Sox a 4-2 lead in the eighth.

That was still in place when the Dodgers were up to bat in the bottom of the ninth. Cody Bellinger slapped a pinch-hit single to bring the tying run to the plate with one out in the inning.

Logan Forsythe, who on multiple occasions delivered in late-game situations, followed with a double to the left-center field gap, scoring Bellinger and bringing the winning run to the plate.

After Austin Barnes singled, leaving runners at the corners, Yasiel Puig stepped to the plate with an opportunity to send the fans home happy. Puig worked the count full and fouled off a couple tough pitches from White Sox reliever Jake Petricka.

On the eighth pitch of the at-bat, Puig launched a double to the gap, allowing both Forsythe and Barnes to score, giving the Dodgers their 10th and final walk-off win of the season. With the crowd already in a frenzied state, Puig added to the hysteria.

“I’ll see you in the World Series,” he told Spectrum SportsNet LA reporter Kelli Tennant during a postgame interview on the field.
