The Los Angeles Dodgers’ defense didn’t do Yoshinobu Yamamoto many favors, but Shohei Ohtani and Freddie Freeman helped lead the offense in a 12-7 comeback win against the Chicago White Sox.

Freeman’s sacrifice fly gave the Dodgers a 1-0 lead in the first inning but Yamamoto struggled to land his offspeed pitches and the White Sox responded with three runs in the bottom half.

Ohtani then played a big part in L.A. pulling even during the second inning as he hit an RBI single and stole second base, drawing a throwing error that allowed Andy Pages to jog home from third. Ohtani went 2-for-2 with one walk in his first time playing back-to-back days this spring.

The White Sox again answered the Dodgers’ scoring to take a 5-3 lead in the bottom of the third, but that was short lived as Freeman launched a grand slam in the fourth inning.

The see-saw affair continued into the bottom of the fourth inning, and the fifth as well, when Austin Barnes, Andy Pages and Andre Lipcius each drove in a run.

Jose Ramos provided some insurance with a two-run single in the eighth inning and it made matters a little easier for Dodgers pitching as the White Sox pushed a pair across in the bottom of the ninth.

Dodgers’ Cactus League record

With just seven Cactus League games remaining, the Dodgers enter play Thursday with the best record at 10-4. Although Yamamoto regressed from his Spring Training debut, Dodgers starting pitching has been a strong point and so too have their stars and organizational depth.
