Dodgers Sign More Prospects Before End Of 2024 International Signing Period

The Los Angeles Dodgers added another wave of prospects this week just before the close of the 2024 international signing period.

The Dodgers had money saved for Roki Sasaki in the event he would be posted in the 2024 period. While that did end up coming to fruition, Sasaki is going to sign in the 2025 period instead, giving the Dodgers some more money to use before their total resets.

With bonus pool funds still available for the 2024 period, the Dodgers opted to use some of that to sign seven players, according to Francys Romero:

The Los Angeles Dodgers officially signed 7 players before the conclusion of the 2023-24 international signing period:

LHP Aneudy Almonte ($50K)

The Dodgers had a little over $2.5 million remaining for the 2024 window, which would have otherwise gone to waste had they not used it. There is no rollover with funds from one year to the next.

Of this group, the Dodgers signed five pitchers, Aneudy Almonte, Alexis Reyes, Shai Romero, Cesar Sanchez and Samuel Saviñon. The other two, Arvelo and Ureña are infield prospects out of the Dominican Republic.

All but Reyes, who comes from Venezuela, were signed out of the Dominican Republic.

There isn’t much known about the reported group, but the Dodgers’ emphasis on pitching is notable throughout the organization.

Dodgers’ 2025 international signing period

Heading into next year, the Dodgers are in the lowest-tier of allotted money for the 2025 international signing period with $5,146,200.

The Sasaki heat is of course expected to be the main target for the team, with that interest renewed by the Dodgers front office this week at the MLB Winter Meetings. They also belief that the talent he possesses puts him in position to be one of the best starting pitchers in MLB.
