With Major League Baseball finding the Houston Astros electronically stole signs en route to winning the 2017 World Series, and still investigating the Boston Red Sox for alleged misconduct in 2018, the Los Angeles Dodgers have been taken down an unpleasant trip on memory lane.

Several players, including team leaders Clayton Kershaw and Justin Turner, have voiced their anger with the Astros, MLB commissioner Rob Manfred, the punishments levied, or situation as a whole.

As the league is in the final stages of their investigation into the Red Sox, the Dodgers are further connected to the situation by way trading for Mookie Betts and David Price this past offseason.

According to Joel Sherman of the New York Post, the Dodgers sought input from MLB prior to moving ahead with their trade for Betts:

The Dodgers, though, asked MLB if it should be concerned about acquiring Betts and were assured not to worry.

“I know with our front office, we do a lot of our due diligence before we make a deal,” Roberts said. “We have no questions or any concerns, none at all.”

Generally speaking, whatever scheme the Red Sox may have utilized in 2018 is not believed to have been as egregious as that of the Astros. Specifically, Boston may not have been as aggressive with stealing signs in real time.

Price recently dismissed any concern over the Red Sox being the subject of MLB’s latest open case. Nevertheless, Boston parted with manager Alex Cora prior to the start of Spring Training, because of his role in the Astros’ sign-stealing.

To a man the Dodgers front office and clubhouse has collectively raved about Betts and Price. Betts’ challenging the team in their first meeting was received well and has been credited for further enhancing the intensity of Spring Training workouts on the backfields at Camelback Ranch.

He and Turner took matters a step further by implementing a system that requires players to pay a fine when committing a mistake during workouts or Cactus League games.
