The Los Angeles Dodgers made a pair of roster moves before Saturday’s game against the Colorado Rockies, with the second being to recall Mitch White from Triple-A Oklahoma City and place Jimmie Sherfy on the 10-day injured list due to right elbow inflammation.

Sherfy was among the relievers who appeared in the series opener against the Rockies, allowing three runs and two hits in the 10th inning. One of the hits was a two-run homer surrendered to Charlie Blackmon, which was part of the Dodgers falling to a MLB-worst 1-10 in extra innings this season.

Sherfy has appeared in four games for L.A. since being claimed off waivers from the San Francisco Giants, going 1-1 with a 4.15 ERA, 5.47 FIP and 0.69 WHIP. The right-hander made 10 appearances for the Giants prior to being designated for assignment.

Earlier this week Sherfy became the first pitcher in MLB history to pitch for both the Giants and Dodgers in the same season. The 29-year-old has been in the Majors over parts of four seasons, spending time with the Arizona Diamondbacks in addition to Giants and Dodgers.

Sherfy was selected by the Diamondbacks in the 10th round of the 2013 MLB Draft.

White gives Dodgers fresh arm

White is back up with the Dodgers for a fifth time this season and provides insurance of sorts on multiple fronts.

The first being if Tony Gonsolin is unable to pitch deep into his start, and in general with Joe Kelly being unavailable due to lingering soreness and Kenley Jansen’s availability in question as well. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts is hopeful Kelly will be able to pitch Sunday.

White has pitched to a 3.93 ERA in 13 games for the Dodgers this season. He’s also 1-0 with a 1.42 ERA in seven games with Oklahoma City.

The Dodgers’ initial roster move on Saturday saw Luke Raley recalled and Darien Nuñez optioned to OKC.
