Dodgers Roster: Freddie Freeman Activated Off Injured List

The Los Angeles Dodgers reinstated Freddie Freeman from the 10-day injured list on Friday, just as manager Dave Roberts said earlier this week was expected.

Hunter Feduccia, who was recalled when Freeman landed on the IL, was optioned back to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Thursday. Feduccia appeared in just two games during the brief stint with the Dodgers, but did receive his 2024 World Series ring and got to be part of the team visiting the White House.

Freeman is back with the Dodgers after going on the injured list on April 3 because of a sprained right ankle. That came days after Freeman slipped in the shower and aggravated his surgically-repaired ankle.

He missed the entire series against the Atlanta Braves but voiced optimism over being available once the Dodgers began their road trip. However, Freeman didn’t even accompany the team on their flight to Philadelphia out of concerns it could cause additional swelling in his right ankle.

While Freeman wound up missing nine games, he overall had a sense of relief to have avoided a more serious injury.

“I did an X-ray, and there’s no chips or anything like that,” Freeman recently said.

“I literally stepped in with my right food, and it slid. I went down. It’s a glass door, so it could’ve been so much worse. I could’ve hit my head or something like that. I’m very thankful it was just a little mishap with my ankle.

“I’m feeling good today. I’m going to go hit, and if hitting goes well, I’ll come out here and run a few sprints. Just trying to check all the boxes to get back out there.”

Freeman’s return to the Dodgers roster comes on Freddie Freeman bobblehead night at Dodger Stadium. Charlie, one of his three sons, is throwing out the ceremonial first pitch.
