Dodgers Option Kyle Farmer To Triple-A Oklahoma City After Loss To Cubs

After Wednesday’s loss to the Chicago Cubs, the Los Angeles Dodgers optioned catcher/infielder Kyle Farmer to Triple-A Oklahoma City. The move was made presumably to make room on the active roster for Chase Utley, who is expected to be activated from the disabled list prior to Friday’s series-opener against the New York Mets at Citi Field.

Farmer’s recent stint with the Dodgers was not a long one, although it was a memorable one as he came up with a game-winning two-run double to help the Dodgers earn a comeback victory over the Cubs in the first game of Tuesday’s doubleheader.

Farmer and the Dodgers were down to their last strike when he roped a double down the left field line off Cubs reliever Justin Wilson to drive in two. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts complimented him for always being able to maintain a good pulse in late-game situations.

Overall in 32 games with the Dodgers this season, Farmer is hitting .238/.310/.302 with eight RBI.

He has swung the bat well with Oklahoma City, slashing .281/.340/.438 with three home runs and 16 RBI in 22 games. He has played all over the diamond in his time there, expanding his versatility.

Considering he has gone back and forth between Triple-A and the big leagues a few times now, this likely isn’t the last we have seen of Farmer this season.
