Dodgers Option Adam McCreery, Reassign Daniel Corcino & 3 Others To Minor League Camp

The Los Angeles Dodgers made five roster moves after Wednesday night’s loss to the Cleveland Indians, optioning left-handed pitcher Adam McCreery and reassigning left-handed pitcher Josh Smoker and right-handed pitchers Joe Broussard, Daniel Corcino and Jesen Therrien to Minor League camp.

McCreery was acquired in a trade from the Braves earlier this offseason, but it’s evident he can still use some seasoning in the Minors before being Major-League ready.

In three games this spring, McCreery allowed four hits and three runs (two earned) in 2.1 innings, good for a 7.71 ERA. He walked two and did not strike out a batter.

Smoker also struggled in his short time with the MLB club this spring. In three innings across three appearances, the southpaw allowed five hits and two runs (6.00 ERA), while striking out three and walking two.

Broussard pitched in four games for the Dodgers. In 2.2 innings, he gave up six hits and eight runs (27.00 ERA) with two strikeouts and four walks.

Corcino is a pitcher that saw some Major League time with the Dodgers in 2018 and was a staple in the Triple-A Oklahoma City starting rotation for most of the season. He actually pitched well in his three Cactus League games, allowing three hits and to runs (one earned) in five innings. He did walk five while striking out three though.

Therrien was the only pitch of the group that did not appear in a Cactus League game this spring.

As the spring goes along, more and more cuts will continue to be made so the Major League coaching staff and players can begin to focus on getting ready for Opening Day.
