Dodgers NLCS: Tyler Glasnow ‘Leaned Into The Sinker A Lot’ To Find Rhythm During Game 3 Start

Tyler Glasnow turned in another strong start for the Los Angeles Dodgers, continuing a run of pure domination from their pitching staff as they cruise through the postseason.

Glasnow turned in 5.2 innings of one-run ball, and things could have been even better if not for his slow start. The right-hander dealt with some traffic in the first two innings, which led to allowing a run and throwing 40 pitches, which shortened his outing as a whole.

But in the third inning, Glasnow struck out the side, and he struck out the first two batters of the fourth inning. That strikeout streak was broken up with a walk, but Glasnow ended the inning with another strikeout.

To get back on track after his inefficient start, Glasnow relied on his sinker more, and it helped him get more of his feel back.

“I think my rhythm was a little off,” Glasnow said. “Usually when I’m off, I tend to have different rhythm with my hands and my leg. I think just getting more into the rhythm of the game, just kind of getting a little bit more — I don’t know — it’s hard to explain. But I think I just got back into rhythm.

“I leaned into the sinker a lot. I was ripping off everything, and it’s one pitch when I’m a little late that I can get back into the zone if I’m a tad bit late. I was able to get ahead with it. And I just think like the overall athleticism and rhythm was a lot better.”

With his outing, Glasnow has now tossed 13.1 innings this postseason while posting a 0.68 ERA. One of his appearances came as a reliever, and he has since made a start in the NL Division Series and Championship Series.

As a starter, Glasnow has allowed just one run over 11.2 innings with 16 strikeouts and a 0.94 WHIP.

Tyler Glasnow keeping things simple

Heading into the start, Glasnow was following consecutive historic performances from Blake Snell and Yoshinobu Yamamoto. But that didn’t add any pressure on him as he tried to keep things simple for his Game 3 outing.

“Just not try to do too much, make it any bigger than it needs to be,” Glasnow said on Wednesday. “Just game plan like any normal start and just let the extra adrenaline have my stuff play up and bit go into it trying to do too extra or too little. Just treat it like normal.

“I think it helped me with my last start, and I’m feeling good right now physically, so just kind of take it like a normal start.”
