Yasiel Puig started in right field and hit second in the High-A Rancho Cucamonga Quakes lineup on Tuesday night, going 0-for-4 and playing seven innings in the field. The Los Angeles Dodgers are expected to activate Puig off the disabled list Wednesday.

Puig grounded into a double play in the first inning, lined out in his second at-bat, struck out with the bases loaded in the fifth, and hit a routine grounder to third base in his final at-bat. The Quakes nonetheless defeated Lake Elsinore (San Diego Padres affiliate) 6-1.

Puig has been on the 10-day disabled list since April 29. He endured a rough series of events he afternoon prior.

In the first game of a doubleheader with the San Francisco Giants, Puig made a spectacular catch while crashing into the wall in foul territory off right field.

The violent collision left Puig on the ground in pain but he managed to walk off the field at AT&T Park under his own power after being checked on by Dodgers manager Dave Roberts and a trainer.

Then while batting in the top of the second, Puig fouled a pitch off his foot. He managed to finish the at-bat, flying out to end the inning, but was then removed. It was announced later that afternoon Puig was dealing with hip soreness.

However, a x-ray of his left foot revealed a foot contusion, and both issues were enough to force Puig to the disabled list. He’s batting a lowly .193/.250/.250 with five doubles and seven RBI in 24 games this season.
