Dodgers News: Yasiel Puig Stages Gender Reveal At Dodger Stadium

Yasiel Puig and the Los Angeles Dodgers took the field in the series opener against the Milwaukee Brewers on Friday night donned in a new look. Players Weekend has teams in unconventional uniforms and utilizing custom and unique bats, batting gloves, cleats and more.

Puig lived up to the “Wild Horse” nickname bestowed on him by retired Dodgers broadcaster Vin Scully. The electric right fielder made multiple impressive catches to help Kenta Maeda (“Maeken”) limit the Brewers to one run on one hit over six innings.

Puig also contributed at the plate, crushing a solo home run to straightaway center field in the bottom of the sixth. Several hours prior to first pitch, he was on the field at Dodger Stadium with a bat in hand.

It wasn’t for another round of early batting practice with Dodgers hitting coach, but instead a staged gender reveal with his girlfriend, Andrea.

With the couple’s son, Sebastian, onlooking, Puig and Andrea received news of another boy being on the way, which the expectant mother shared on Instagram:

Today the @dodgers are revealing their new nickname jerseys and our #Family is also revealing…IT'S A BOY! #BuildingOurBaseballTeam #PuigFamily #Boys #Blessed #BigBrotherDanny #MyLoves 💙👨‍👩‍👦‍👦👶🏽👶🏾

Incorporating baseball has become a popular trend for gender reveals of late, and Puig is the second Dodgers player to take part in the activity. Last June, Grant Dayton and his wife, Cori, held their own gender reveal at Dodger Stadium, and are also expecting a baby boy.

Unfortunately for Dayton, his season has not fared as well as Puig’s, and came to an end due to next week’s Tommy John surgery.
