Dodgers News: X-Rays Negative On Julio Urias’ Fingers

Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Julio Urias needed X-rays on his left index and middle finger after Friday’s loss to the San Diego Padres. The results came back negative, though Urias had both fingers treated and wrapped.

He was grazed on the hand during an at-bat in the bottom of the fourth inning in which Urias attempted to lay down a sacrifice bunt. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts didn’t express much concern over the incident, nor did Urias.

The young southpaw took the mound Friday night against the San Diego Padres looking to build on the momentum he’d generated in his past two starts.

Although Urias has found his footing, his time in the rotation appears to be coming to an end.

Urias wasn’t particularly sharp early against the Padres, hitting a pair of batters in the first inning and walking one in the second. But to Urias’ credit, he kept San Diego off the board.

Urias came out with one out in the sixth inning and two runners on base, both of whom scored on a Derek Norris two-out double.

“Julio did everything we asked of him, competed and limited damage. For me, 90 pitches and after [getting hit], it was time to get him out of there,” Roberts said after his club’s 4-2 loss. “That’s a game where you feel Julio pitched well enough to win.”

Urias overcame the rocky start to retire 10 batters in a row into the sixth inning. “It was the same as the last game. I was struggling in the first inning but later on I was able to get my rhythm,” he said through an interpreter. “I felt good. The breaking ball wasn’t working that well in the beginning.”
