Dodgers Rumors: Walker Buehler Promoted From Quakes To Double-a Tulsa

Minutes before first pitch on Friday night, the Los Angeles Dodgers optioned Walker Buehler to High-A Rancho Cucamonga. The club did not announce a corresponding roster move, leaving them with 24 players on their active roster for the series opener against the Colorado Rockies.

This marks a second time this season Buehler is joining the Quakes, though in the first instance it was more of a paper move between making starts for the Dodgers. He’s fresh off a stint on the 10-day disabled list that was required due to a right rib microfracture.

Buehler was initially scheduled to make a rehab start for Triple-A Oklahoma City but he instead was activated and pitched in relief of Clayton Kershaw in the four-game finale against the Chicago Cubs.

Buehler struggled in his return and though the plan called for him to complete three innings, he managed just three outs. Buehler allowed five runs on five hits but didn’t blame the late change in plans for his struggles.

Assuming Buehler does pitch for the Quakes, he will be afforded the opportunity to build up his innings base. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts indicated prior to Thursday’s game that the organization was undecided how they would go about stretching Buehler out.

In 10 games (nine starts), he’s 4-2 with a 3.44 ERA, 2.58 FIP and 1.05 WHIP.
