Shortly after trading Joe Wieland to the Seattle Mariners in exchange for speedy Minor League infielder Erick Mejia, the Los Angeles Dodgers sent pitcher Tyler Olson and infielder Ronald Torreyes to the New York Yankees.

In return, the Dodgers received infielder/outfielder Rob Segedin and a player to be named later or cash considerations.

Olson and Torreyes were both recently designated for assignment by the Dodgers. Olson was first to go when Los Angeles re-signed Brandon Beachy six days ago, then Torreyes followed when the club added Kenta Maeda.

The Dodgers acquired Torreyes last June from the Toronot Blue Jays. He spent 62 games with Double-A Tulsa, batting .293/.348/.410.

Torreyes also joined Triple-A Oklahoma City for 13 games spread across multiple stints, where he hit .306/.340/.388.

The 23 year old rounded out the season by joining the Dodgers as a mid-September call-up. He appeared in six games and batted .333/.429/.500.

Olson was acquired from the Seattle Mariners last December. The left-handed reliever made his Major League debut last season, appearing in 11 games. He finished 1-1 with a 5.40 ERA, 6.36 FIP and 2.10 WHIP.

As for the Dodgers return in their trade with the Yankees, Segedin split time in 2015 with Double-A Trenton and Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. He hit a combined .287/.360/.426 with seven home runs, 12 doubles and 34 RBIs.

Of Segedin’s 71 games played, 46 were at the Triple-A level, which is where he began the season. He hit .278/.350/.414 during that time, and .303/.379/.449 in Double-A. Segedin played first base, third base and left field last season.
