The Los Angeles Dodgers announced Hall of Fame manager Tommy Lasorda was released from the hospital and is resting comfortably at home. Reports of Lasorda being hospitalized surfaced in November.

He was admitted to intensive care but no other details were provided about the 93-year-old as the family requested privacy. Thanksgiving week it was reported Lasorda’s condition had improved but he remain hospitalized.

In early December he was moved to a rehab center of the hospital, where he remained until this week. There was hope Lasorda would be released in time for the Christmas holiday, a target the fiery manager missed by just over one week. Every recent indication was he continued to improve in the rehab center.

Lasorda’s time in the hospital came shortly after traveling to Texas, where he watched the Dodgers win their first World Series since 1988. That team, of course, was managed by Lasorda and overcame their underdog status to capture the title.

Lasorda led the Dodgers to four National League pennants, two World Series and finished with a 1,599-1,439 record. He was named National League Manager of the Year in both 1983 and 1988, and maintained ties to the organization as either a player, coach, scout, manager, executive or special advisor.

Lasorda’s history of hospitalizations

This marked a fourth time since 2016 that Lasorda was in the hospital. The first came in August of 2016, then again in May and October of the following year. The incident in May 2017 also required time in the ICU.

Further back, Lasorda was taken to a hospital after suffering a mild heart attack while in New York for the 2012 MLB Draft.
