Los Angeles Dodgers prospect Carlos Rincon was rewarded for his contributions with High-A Rancho Cucamonga, being named the California League Player of the Month for August.
The Dodgers signed Rincon out of the Dominican Republic in 2015 and he has quickly worked his way through the organization’s Minor League levels. The outfielder really turned heads in the month of August to earn the honors, batting .304/.418/.848 with 14 home runs.
Rincon began the season with Low-A Great Lakes, where he hit .226/.331/.358 with seven home runs and 33 RBI before earning the promotion to Rancho Cucamonga.
He has really taken off since the joining the Quakes. In 29 games, the 20-year-old has hit .327/.427/.818 with 15 home runs and 35 RBI to help Rancho Cucamonga win their division and reach the California League playoffs.
The Dodgers’ Minor League affiliates have had a really successful 2018 season with all six levels reaching their respective postseasons.
In addition to Rincon, some other Dodgers’ prospects recently received weekly honors for Aug. 27- Sept. 2. D.J. Peters was named the Texas League Player of the week with Double-A Tulsa, Cody Thomas was named the California Player of the Week with the Quakes and Justin Hagenman was named the Pioneer League Pitcher of the Week with Rookie-level Ogden.
