Dodgers News: Max Muncy Tied For Most Home Runs By Visiting Player At Oracle Park Since 2018

The Los Angeles Dodgers completed their second straight sweep against the San Francisco Giants as Max Muncy had one of his best series in what’s been a down season.

During the four-game sweep, Muncy played in three of the games and went 4-for-11, including a home run on Monday and double in the finale, to go along with three runs scored and two RBI.

The long ball tied Muncy with San Diego Padres superstar Fernando Tatís Jr. for the most home runs at Oracle Park as a visiting player with seven. No other visitor has hit more homers in San Francisco since 2018, although all of Tatís’ have come since the 2019 season.

Muncy broke a tie with Arizona Diamondbacks second baseman Ketel Marte, who has hit six home runs at Oracle Park since 2018. Following Marte with five is Joc Pederson, who now calls the Bay Area his home stadium, and Patrick Wisdom, who has hit all five since the 2021 season.

Last season, Muncy hit a homer that landed in McCovey Cove, marking a career third time he’s found the water outside Oracle Park.

That tied Muncy with Carlos Delgado and Adam LaRoche for the most home runs by an opposing player to land in McCovey Cove. “That’s awesome. I actually didn’t know that, so that’s pretty cool,” Muncy said when informed of the statistic.

While Muncy is still hitting just .168 with 10 home runs and a .632 on-base plus slugging percentage in 285 at-bats this season, he has looked a lot better at the plate recently and finding more consistent results. The two-time All-Star credited the recent success to making some adjustments to his swing during the Dodgers’ road trip.

Muncy has enjoyed career success against Giants

Muncy has given the Giants a lot of problems throughout his career. In 65 games against San Francisco, he has batted .247/.367.558 with 18 home runs and 36 RBI.

That success against the Dodgers’ rivals also caught the eye of Giants manager Gabe Kapler last season when he called Muncy one of the most complete hitters in baseball.
