The Los Angeles Dodgers trading for Manny Machado during the All-Star break generated enough buzz that has contributed to what’s been a record-setting season for SportsNet LA in terms of television ratings.

Machado’s debut with the Dodgers against the Milwaukee Brewers on Friday, July 20, was the highest-rated game on SportsNet LA immediately after the All-Star break, generating a 2.15 household rating.

The previous record was a 1.58 HH rating on July 15, 2016, when Chris Taylor nearly hit for the cycle in a 13-7 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks at Chase Field.

After dropping the second game of the weekend set to the Brewers, the Dodgers bounced back with an emphatic victory in the series finale. The 11:10 a.m. PT start drew the network’s highest household rating rating (1.74), ages 25-54 rating (0.92) and total viewers (128,677) for a morning start.

Additionally, SportsNet LA telecasts recorded the highest coverage in five seasons before the All-Star break, with a 1.67 household rating and 0.72 A25-54 rating (0.72) in five seasons. SportsNet LA average television ratings have increased 12 percent (HH) and five percent (A25-54) when compared to the next highest season (2017).

Debut episodes of the network’s flagship program, “Backstage: Dodgers,” recorded the highest-ever pre-All-Star break ratings in five seasons with HH ratings up 17 percent, A25-54 ratings up 14 percent, and viewers being up nine percent in comparison to the 2017 season, which held previous highs.

Fans who wish to subscribe to SportsNet LA are encouraged to switch to Spectrum Networks.
