Dodgers News: Logan Forsythe To Miss Approximately 2 Weeks With Broken Toe

Already without Rich Hill for a still-to-be-determined period of time, the Los Angeles Dodgers have now lost Logan Forsythe to a right big toe fracture. Forsythe, along with Rob Segedin (sprained right big toe) was placed on the 10-day disabled list Wednesday.

Although the injury is ominous, the Dodgers appear to have avoided a more serious injury. Manager Dave Roberts described Forsythe’s fracture as “a little hairline thing,” which doesn’t amount to a recovery of four to six weeks.

Instead, Roberts projected Forsythe may only miss around two weeks, with his return date somewhat dependent on pain tolerance. The 30-year-old endured a bit of a rough stretch dating back to the weekend. On Saturday, Forsythe was removed early because of right hamstring tightness.

That forced him to miss Sunday’s game, though Forsythe did return Monday night. He batted .295/.407/.341 with two doubles, three RBI, six walks and 16 strikeouts over 14 games.

During the time Forsythe is sidelined, the Dodgers can turn to Kiké Hernandez, Chris Taylor and Chase Utley to handle duties at second base. Taylor, who was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City, received the start in the series finale against the Colorado Rockies and left-hander Tyler Anderson.

Roberts said Utley will see his share of time when the Dodgers are facing a right-handed starter.
