Dodgers News: Kenley Jansen Survives 2 Injury Scares

The Los Angeles Dodgers have dealt with a plethora of injuries to the pitching staff as of late, particularly in the starting rotation, having lost the likes of Rich Hill, Clayton Kershaw and Kenta Maeda in the past two weeks alone.

On Tuesday, the Dodgers faced another potential injury scare when All-Star closer Kenley Jansen stepped in a hole on the warning track at Dodger Stadium during pregame conditioning. The 30-year-old managed to escape unscathed, needing just a bandage on his right knee.

Despite the fortunate outcome, Jansen’s injury concerns didn’t end there. Prior to Friday’s relief appearance against the Colorado Rockies, he nearly suffered an additional pair of injuries in unorthodox fashion.

First while receiving pregame treatment and later upon entering in the eighth inning for a four-out save, via Andy McCullough of the L.A. Times:

Kenley Jansen has been having a normal one lately. He ran into a sinkhole at Dodger Stadium the other day and stumbled running in from the bullpen tonight. He also said a massage table collapsed with him on it before the game.

Though Jansen collapsed through a massage table before first pitch, he once again shrugged off any potential injury and was able to later make his 25th appearance of the season.

Jansen initially favored his ankle but nevertheless remained in the game. The four-out save was his second of the season, 13th overall, and it locked down an important win for the Dodgers.

The victory enabled Los Angeles to pull to within three games behind the Rockies for first place in the National League West.
