Dodgers News: Justin Turner Removed From Game After Being Hit By Pitch On Left Hand

UPDATE (March 19, 9:30 p.m.): Los Angeles Dodgers All-Star third baseman Justin Turner suffered a non-displaced fracture in his left wrist.

After helping kick off the Los Angeles Marathon on Sunday morning, Justin Turner was back in the Dodgers lineup for Monday’s night game with the Oakland Athletics. His time on the field did not last long, however, as Turner was hit by a pitch on his left hand in the bottom of the first inning.

He immediately went down to the ground in pain and was replaced by pinch-runner Donovan Solano, who remained in the game at third base. An update on Turner’s status or a potential injury suffered was not available at the time of writing.

The game was Turner’s 15th of the spring. He entered the night batting .333/.400/.556 with two doubles, two home runs and three RBI. Turner hit the Dodgers’ first home run of 2018 Spring Training.

The Dodgers have already dealt with minor injury scares to Austin Barnes, Kenley Jansen and Corey Seager this year. In addition, reliever Tom Koehler is sidelined for an indefinite period of time due to a shoulder injury.

After Monday, the Dodgers have just seven games remaining before opening the regular season March 29 against the San Francisco Giants.

With Turner, the concern would be whether he has ample time to recover from a potential injury as opposed to him needing games to log ample plate opportunities.
