Dodgers News: Justin Turner Dealing With Adductor Injury, Will Miss Series Opener Vs. Angels

The 2018 season has been an injury-plagued one for the Los Angeles Dodgers as key players such as Justin Turner, Corey Seager and Clayton Kershaw, among others, have all missed significant time.

Because of all those players missing time, the Dodgers got off to a rough start to the season and were as many as nine games out of first place in the National League West in the month of May.

They have turned things around in recent weeks though, and after defeating the San Diego Padres on Thursday night, moved into sole possession of first place in the NL West for the first time all season.

Turner was not in the starting lineup in Thursday’s series finale at Petco Park, although he did come in to pinch-hit in the ninth inning, grounding out to shortstop.

It appears he injured himself running out that groundball as after the game it was revealed by Dodgers manager Dave Roberts that Turner is dealing with a left adductor injury that will keep him out of Friday’s series opener against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, via Ken Gurnick of MLB.com:

Justin Turner said his left adductor grabbed last night and again tonight. Roberts said he won't play tomorrow.

The injury is obviously another tough break for Turner, who missed the first month and a half of the season due to a fractured wrist that he suffered when he was hit by a pitch in Spring Training.

After a slow start to the season, Turner has been swing the bat well as of late, hitting .272/.380/.435 with four home runs in his last 27 games before Thursday.

He will undergo further testing on Friday, but if he is forced to miss an extended period of time then Max Muncy would likely slide back over to third base, as was the case earlier in the season when Turner was out.
