The Los Angeles Dodgers placed Joc Pederson on the 10-day disabled list with a right groin strain, and recalled Brett Eibner from Triple-A Oklahoma City prior to Monday’s series opener against the San Francisco Giants.

Pederson was removed in the bottom of the sixth inning on Sunday after experiencing groin tightness. He attributed it to a misstep and lunge toward first base while attempting to leg out a groundball.

The 25-year-old batted leadoff in two of three games against the Arizona Diamondbacks over the weekend, going a combined 3-for-7 with three runs scored, two doubles and one walk in those contests.

Entering Monday, Pederson had appeared in all but one of the Dodgers’ 19 games this season. He’s batting .220/.322/.340 with three doubles, one home run and seven RBI.

Eibner first joined the Dodgers on April 19 when he was recalled from OKC along with Chris Taylor to replace Logan Forsythe and Rob Segedin on the active roster. Eibner went 1-for-5 with three strikeouts over three games (two starts). He was then optioned back to Oklahoma City on Sunday, in favor of Adam Liberatore.

Including Pederson, the Dodgers have now placed 12 different players on the disabled list. They set a Major League record by putting 28 players on the DL last season.

Kiké Hernandez is in Monday’s lineup as the starting center fielder.
