Los Angeles Dodgers Spanish-language broadcaster Jamie Jarrín was presented with the 2019 Vin Scully Lifetime Achievement Award at the annual Southern California Sports Broadcasters luncheon. Jarrín is the third-ever recipient of the award.

Vin Scully was first to take it home, followed by Kings announcer Bob Miller last year. While Scully and Miller have both sailed off into the sunset and are enjoying retirement, Jarrín last September signed a multi-year contract extension to take him through the 2020 season.

“I’m still enjoying it just as much as I did 60 years ago. I love what I do, and it’s a privilege for me to be able to do it,” Jarrín said at the time his new contract was announced. “I have had the opportunity to work with the best of the best, ballplayers, broadcasters and staff, and I have been so fortunate throughout my career.

“Of course, I have to thank the Dodgers and especially my wife Blanca for her support and for allowing me to do what I love all these years.”

The Vin Scully Lifetime Achievement Award is the second honor Jarrín has received this month, as he previously was bestowed the Pioneer Award from the Professional Baseball Scouts Foundation (PBSF) at their 16th annual “In the Spirit of the Game” fundraiser.

Both awards come months after the Hall-of-Fame broadcaster was immortalized as the 12th member of the Dodger Stadium Ring of Honor.

Entering a 61st season in the broadcast booth, Jarrín has been inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame (1998) received the Ford C. Frick Award and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
