Dodgers News: Freddie Freeman Moving On After Addressing Ronald Acuña Jr., Braves

Freddie Freeman openly expressed his surprise at not re-signing with the Atlanta Braves in free agency, and his former team has maintained a presence in the weeks since the Southern California native signed a six-year, $162 million contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

During Freeman’s introductory press conference at Camelback Ranch, he was asked about Braves president of baseball operations Alex Anthopoulos giving a tearful interview after trading for Matt Olson.

“I saw ’em. That’s all I’ll say,” answered Freeman. He went on to speak with Anthopoulos, during which an apology was issued.

More recently the 32-year-old was the subject of criticism from former teammate Ronald Acuña Jr. The All-Star outfielder said he would not miss Freeman and suggested the two had a contentious relationship that stemmed from Acuña not being fully permitted to express himself.

During an interview with MLB Network on Thursday, Freeman offered a clarification that he merely was enforcing longstanding organizational rules. They were guidelines Freeman said he too was coached on while playing for the Braves.

When the Acuña subject was broached with Freeman on Opening Day, he made it clear that no longer is a subject he wishes to discuss.

“I spoke [Thursday]. I’m done, so we’re going to move forward,” said Freeman, who added he had not talked to Acuña.

As for matters relating to the Braves continuing to surface, Freeman said, “I guess we’ll take them in stride. Hopefully that’s the end of it. I spoke [Thursday] about it, and I’m going to move forward.”

Freeman: focus is with Dodgers

Nearly one month removed from signing with the Dodgers, Friedman made it clear he’s moved past the Braves portion of his career.

“I’ve already done that,” he answered when asked if it was important to be able to carry on with the Dodgers. “I’ve already moved forward. I’ve been here for a few weeks now, so I feel good, everything feels good, the family is getting settled, and we’re here in Denver ready to go.”
