Dodgers News: Emmet Sheehan Pitches Well In Rehab Start For Triple-A Oklahoma City

Emmet Sheehan continued his rehab assignment with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Sunday and turned in another impressive start as he inches closer toward returning to the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The right-hander needed 39 pitches to complete three scoreless innings, allowing just two hits and collecting five strikeouts.

It was another successful outing for Sheehan, who struck out five of the six batters he faced in his first rehab start with the Dodgers’ Rookie-level Arizona Complex League affiliate on Memorial Day.

The 25-year-old is among several injured Dodgers pitchers working their way back to the team, along with Blake Snell, Tyler Glasnow, Michael Kopech and Kirby Yates, among others.

Sheehan made his MLB debut with the Dodgers in 2023 and went 4-1 with a 4.92 ERA across 13 games (11 starts). He wound up earning a spot on the team’s postseason roster for the National League Division Series and allowed three runs in his only appearance.

The 25-year-old will likely pitch in a few more games with the Comets or other Dodgers’ Minor League affiliates over the next month. As long as there are no setbacks, Sheehan could potentially be back on a Major League mound by the end of June.

Emmet Sheehan will be ‘very helpful’ for Dodgers

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts has been encouraged with Sheehan’s process and believes he can make a big impact later this summer.

“Emmett is tracking, and he’s coming quick, so I know he threw to some hitters and everything I’ve heard, the delivery, the health has been fantastic,” Roberts said of Sheehan last month.

“He’s going to be a little sneaky pick to click sometime later this summer. I don’t have the timeline, but this guy’s put in a lot of work and to have that type of velocity and command, and is going to be very helpful at some point.”
