Los Angeles Dodgers Minor Leaguers received honors throughout the 2016 season and on postseason All-Star teams. Ogden Raptors outfielder D.J. Peters was among the latest to receive honors, named Player of the Week (Aug. 29-Sept. 5) in the Pioneer League, and selected to the league’s post-season All-Star team.
He hit .452/.514/.903, going 14-for-31 with two doubles, four home runs and nine RBIs over eight games to earn the weekly honor. Peters was also named Player of the Week in July.
The Dodgers selected Peters in the fourth round (No. 131 overall) and signed him in June.
The 20-year-old spent two seasons at Western Nevada College and was committed to play at California State University, Fullerton before electing to turn pro.
Peters passed on playing college ball despite signing for below slot value.
His list of accomplishments this season include being named a midseason Pioneer League All-Star. Peters gave his the lead in the third inning with a two-run home run to center field. He earned the Pioneer League’s Top Star award, the equivalent to the All-Star MVP Award.
In 66 games this season, Peters is batting .351/.437/.615 with 24 doubles, three triples, 13 home runs and 48 RBIs. His 63 runs scored lead the Pioneer League, while Peters ranked second in hits (92), doubles (24) and walks (35).
Ogden won three of their last four games and begin the playoffs Friday night.
