Dodgers News: Dave Roberts Doesn’t Believe Roster Must Be Addressed At Trade Deadline

An educated guess has the Los Angeles Dodgers making at least one roster move prior to Monday’s non-waiver trade deadline. But which direction the club may head in and for whom they’d trade for is difficult to gauge.

The Dodgers have been linked to starters Yu Darvish, Sonny Gray and Dan Straily, and relief pitchers Zach Britton, Brad Hand and Justin Wilson. They face varying degrees of competition from other clubs for each of the aforementioned pitchers.

As the front office mulls over options aimed at upgrading the roster, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts maintains the team, as currently constructed, isn’t in necessarily in need of change or new additions, via MLB Network Radio:

“I’m telling our guys we don’t need anything. I like where we are at right now. They are continuing to vet me and the coaches, and seeing what we need, which is great and the responsible thing to do. I just really believe in the 25 to 30 guys in our clubhouse that have helped us this year. Any team can get better, and if there is a deal to be had to make us better, I’m sure our guys are going to do that.”

Roberts has on multiple occasions voiced his confidence in the Dodgers, not only calling his team the best in the National League West when the division was still hanging in the balance, but also claiming they are capable of winning the World Series as is.

At the conclusion of an acceptance speech when he was presented with the Kershaw’s Challenge Impact Award, Dodgers co-owner Magic Johnson predicted the team would win the World Series this year.

Even with his manager and owner having the utmost confidence, Dodgers president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman simply is not one to stand pat. Whether he’ll swing a trade for an impact talent remains to be seen.
