The Los Angeles Dodgers activated a trio of relievers off the disabled list on Monday, one of which was Tony Cingrani. In order to get Cingrani back on the Dodgers’ 40-man roster, Daniel Hudson was transferred to the 60-day DL.

The move effectively ends Hudson’s 2018 season. He’d been on the 10-day disabled list since Aug. 24 due to a second bout with right forearm tightness. The injury previously sidelined him for 10 days, beginning Aug. 7.

Hudson pitched to a 4.11 ERA, 4.37 FIP and 1.22 WHIP in 40 games with the Dodgers. He recorded 44 strikeouts against 18 walks and allowed six home runs across 46 innings in those appearances.

The Dodgers signed the veteran relief pitcher to a Minor League contract and called him up from Triple-A Oklahoma City nearly three weeks later. Aside from stints on the disabled list, Hudson remained with the Dodgers after that point.

Although Hudson not available for the remaining 11 games in the regular season and whatever postseason games may be on the horizon, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts nonetheless still has a bevy of right-handed options.

Now included in that is John Axford, who was among the three relievers added to the active roster ahead of the series opener with the Colorado Rockies.
