The Los Angeles Dodgers acquired Curtis Granderson and cash considerations from the New York Mets in exchange for a player to be named later or cash considerations. Granderson cleared revocable waivers earlier this month.

He’s another splash for the Dodgers, who acquired Yu Darvish at the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline to bolster their rotation for the playoffs. Granderson joins an already-crowded outfield picture, though gives the Dodgers another veteran presence and leadoff option in their quest for a World Series.

He started games in left field (seven), center field (56) and right field (four) for the Mets this season. The 36-year-old is batting .228/.334/.481 with 22 doubles, three triples, 19 home runs and 52 RBI.

Granderson has fared particularly well in 71 games since May 21, going 55-for-199 and batting .276/.399/.603 13 doubles, two triples, 16 home runs and 38 RBI in that span.

Over four seasons with the Mets, the two-time All-Star hit .239/.341/.444 with 106 doubles, 12 triples, 95 home runs and 247 RBI in 573 games. He went 6-for-19 with two doubles, three home runs and four RBI in seven games (five starts) against the Dodgers this season.

Granderson is owed just shy of $4 million in the final year of a four-year, $60 million contract. He’s not yet been added to the Dodgers’ active roster. Dylan Floro was designated for assignment to clear room on the 40-man roster.
