Chris Taylor’s struggles from the 2022 season have continued into this season, but it appears he’s close to fully breaking out and producing at the level the Los Angeles Dodgers expect.

Taylor is still only hitting .207 with a .755 on-base plus slugging percentage over 82 at-bats, but he is third on the team with six home runs, trailing only Max Muncy and James Outman.

The 32-year-old blasted his sixth of the season on Saturday, which drove in the only two runs in the Dodgers’ 2-1 victory against the San Diego Padres.

Taylor has fared well over the past week and said he is close to getting his swing to an optimum spot, via SportsNet LA:

“I feel pretty good. Tonight, I thought I was seeing the ball well and just missed a few. I think I’m really, really close to being right where I want to be.”

When the Dodgers went to Pittsburgh a little over a week ago, Taylor went to PNC Park to take some extra batting practice on their day off. He entered the series batting just .111/.196/.378 with four home runs, a 52 wRC+ and -0.2 WAR.

During his practice in Pittsburgh, Taylor worked to simplify everything, and the results seem to have paid off. The following day, he went 3-for-4, and since that off day, he has gone 12-for-37 (.324).

Chris Taylor visited Driveline

Disappointed with how the 2022 season went, Taylor quickly began working with Dodgers hitting coaches after the National League Division Series.

He also was among the multiple Dodgers players who took an offseason trip to the data-driven Driveline Baseball training facility.
