Dodgers News: Brock Stewart Recalled, Josh Ravin Optioned To Oklahoma City

The Los Angeles Dodgers recalled Brock Stewart and optioned Josh Ravin to Triple-A Oklahoma City prior to Sunday’s series finale against the Cincinnati Reds. It marks a second short stint with the Dodgers for Ravin.

He joined the club on Friday and appeared in Saturday’s game, throwing two scoreless innings against the Reds. While the Reds selected Ravin in the fifth round of the 2006 Draft, it was his first time pitching at Great American Ball Park.

When Ravin joined the Dodgers in May, he was optioned back to Oklahoma City two days later without appearing in a game.

Stewart joins the Dodgers for the first time this season. He was slowed during Spring Training by tendinitis in his right shoulder. Stewart began the season on the 10-day disabled list, was eventually transferred to the 60-day DL, and wasn’t activated until June 7.

Stewart made three starts for Oklahoma City, though only one came after he was reinstated. In that outing, he allowed just one run on three hits, and had four strikeouts in 3.1 innings pitched.

The 25-year-old was scheduled to start Saturday but did not pitch for the Dodgers’ top affiliate. He will provide length in the event Kenta Maeda is unable to pitch deep into his spot start on Sunday.

Last season, Stewart was 2-2 with a 5.79 ERA, 5.90 FIP and 1.61 WHIP in seven games (five starts) with Los Angeles.
