The Los Angeles Dodgers made their first wave of roster moves in September on Friday, recalling Austin Barnes and Yasiel Puig from Triple-A Oklahoma City, and reinstating Louis Coleman and Josh Ravin from the disabled list.

Puig is expected to start in right field in the series opener against the San Diego Padres. After multiple instances where Dodgers president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman and manager Dave Roberts remained noncommittal over whether Puig was going to return this season, reports of his expected callup surfaced Thursday night.

After being demoted to Oklahoma City, Puig hit .348/.400/.594 with three doubles, four home runs and 12 RBI over 19 games. He was not in Thursday’s lineup.

The Dodgers placed the 25-year-old outfielder on revocable waivers last month but as was largely expected, opted against trading Puig to the claiming team.

Puig batted .260/.320/.386 with 10 doubles, seven home runs and 34 RBI in 81 games prior to being sent down. Included in that is a stretch where Puig hit .308/.390/.440 with six doubles, two home runs and 14 RBI over 28 games (23 starts) after coming off the disabled list.

Barnes made the Dodgers’ 2016 Opening Day roster, and joins the club a fourth time this season. He’s been used sparingly thus far, going 3-for-23 with one double and one RBI in 26 plate appearances over 14 games.

Barnes played catcher (five games; three starts), second base (four games; two starts) and one game at third base for the Dodgers. He hit .295/.380/.443 with 22 doubles, six home runs and 39 RBI while primarily playing catcher in 85 games for Oklahoma City.

Acquired from the Houston Astros prior to the non-waiver trade deadline, Fields was 1-0 with a 4.66 ERA in 11 games. He was optioned on Aug. 23 to Oklahoma City.

Coleman went 2-1 with a 3.70 ERA in 50 games with the Dodgers prior to being placed on the disabled list on Aug. 3 with right shoulder fatigue. He made four rehab appearances with Oklahoma City and the Rookie-level Arizona League Dodgers, allowing only an unearned run in four innings.

Ravin appeared in three games for the Dodgers, throwing two scoreless innings. He was put on the disabled list with right triceps inflammation.
