Dodgers News: Andrew Friedman Jokes About Yasiel Puig’s Home Run Off Brewers’ Jeremy Jeffress Possibly Being ‘Lucky’

With the Los Angeles Dodgers leading 2-1 in the sixth inning of the decisive Game 7 of the National League Championship Series, Yasiel Puig hit a big three-run home run off Milwaukee Brewers reliever Jeremy Jeffress to essentially put the game out of reach.

The homer was not only a sweet one because it helped the Dodgers return to the World Series, but it could be reasoned there was extra satisfaction because it came against Jeffress. He had been doing a lot of talking throughout the NLCS, including calling the Dodgers ‘lucky’ after giving up a game-winning home run to Justin Turner in Game 2.

He then said all of the pressure was on Los Angeles before Game 7. It was ultimately Puig and the Dodgers that got the last laugh though, taking home a 5-1 victory in Game 7.

One person who didn’t forget Jeffress’ comments about the Dodgers is president of baseball operation Andrew Friedman. After the game, he poked fun at Jeffress by joking perhaps Puig’s home run had some luck behind it, via Tim Healey of Newsday:

Andrew Friedman on Puig's homer: "That curveball from Jeffress tonight was extremely well located. I may even allow him to say lucky on that one." https://t.co/FxIYovCWu3

The troll job was an outstanding one by the head boss of the Dodgers front office, and one that even Jeffress should appreciate.

Friedman has played a huge part in the Dodgers returning to the World Series for the second straight year, putting together the best team in the NL despite having to work under more of a budget due to ownership prioritizing getting below the luxury tax threshold in 2018.

Acquisitions like Manny Machado, David Freese and Ryan Madson have all panned out for the Dodgers, but they still have four wins to go as they get set to take on the Boston Red Sox in the Fall Classic.
