Dodgers Injury Updates: Tyler Glasnow Slightly ‘Ahead’ Of Blake Snell

The Los Angeles Dodgers remain without two of their most important starting pitchers in Tyler Glasnow and Blake Snell, but both have progressed to beginning throwing programs after getting clearance from Dr. Neal ElAttrache.

While Glasnow and Snell are playing catch, they continue to face prolonged recoveries.

“They’re both going to be a viable option at some point,” manager Dave Roberts said of the two injured Dodgers pitchers. “I would say Tyler is a tick ahead of Blake, but I still don’t know what that looks like. I really don’t.”

Glasnow has been sidelined since the end of April because of right shoulder inflammation. The Dodgers have maintained his right shoulder is structurally sound but otherwise expressed some frustration over not having much clarity with what was ailing him.

Snell made just two starts before landing on the 15-day injured list due to left shoulder inflammation. He initially progressed to throwing a bullpen session but had to skip a second one because of lingering discomfort.

Snell underwent further testing, which revealed that his shoulder remained structurally sound as well. Though, he ultimately received an injection to treat the pain.

The Dodgers expect both pitchers to return at some point this season, but they will have to clear multiple hurdles before doing so, including throwing bullpen sessions, facing batters and completing rehab assignments.

Glasnow did some light throwing off the mound on Tuesday and is expected to complete a bullpen session this weekend.

Tyler Glasnow & Blake Snell among injured Dodgers pitchers

Glasnow and Snell are among a slew of injured Dodgers pitchers, along with Evan Phillips, Roki Sasaki, Blake Treinen and others.

L.A. recently got some reinforcements back in Tony Gonsolin and Clayton Kershaw, while Shohei Ohtani is also expected to return to the mound after the All-Star break.
