Dodgers Injury News: Gavin Lux Day-To-Day With Back Tightness

Gavin Lux was in the initial Los Angeles Dodgers lineup for the second game of their series against the Atlanta Braves, but he was a late scratch just before first pitch due to back tightness.

“Gavin is doing well,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said after his team’s 3-1 loss that snapped a seven-game winning streak. “Just the back flared up, so I don’t know his availability. I would kind of put him in the class of day-to-day, and we’ll see how he feels [Wednesday] morning.”

Cody Bellinger was inserted into the Dodgers’ lineup to replace Lux, and went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts. But to his credit, the entire lineup had a night to forget as Braves starter Max Fried threw five perfect innings.

The Dodgers broke up the perfect game when Hanser Alberto singled in the sixth, and they added another in the seventh on a Trea Turner infield hit. Those were the only two hits the offense had in their loss.

Lux has been off to a hot start at the plate, so the Dodgers are surely hoping the injury won’t keep him out too long. In 10 games, the 24-year-old is hitting .276/.405/.483 with one home run, two stolen bases, a 152 wRC+ and .391 wOBA.

Treinen on the mend with Lux

The Dodgers are also without Blake Treinen, who is dealing with an arm issue that is expected to keep him out for the entire three-game series against Atlanta.

“Blake’s arm was just kind of barking after his last outing. So for us, with where we’re at and how valuable he is, we just felt give him three, four, five days off,” Roberts revealed Monday night.

“He played catch (Monday) and felt good, but we’re in no rush to get him back.”

Roberts added that Treinen is likely to be available when the Dodgers take on the San Diego Padres, beginning Friday.
