The Los Angeles Dodgers starting rotation has been plagued by injuries all season long, and their most recent one was to left-hander Alex Wood, who is currently on the disabled list with left adductor tendinitis after dealing with hamstring cramps in his last start against the Houston Astros.

The injury wasn’t believed to be a serious one, but luckily for the Dodgers, they had five other healthy starting pictures so they had the luxury of putting Wood on the 10-day DL so he could get 100 percent healthy.

It appears the short stint is all he needed, as Wood is scheduled to return and start Tuesday game against the San Francisco Giants at Dodger Stadium, via Anne Rogers of MLB.com:

Alex Wood will come off the 10-day disabled list and start on Tuesday in the second game of the Dodgers’ series against the Giants in Los Angeles, manager Dave Roberts said on Saturday.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts thought that a brief breather would do wonders for Wood, who up until that point was the only Dodgers starter who hadn’t spent time on the disabled list this season.

In 22 starts this season, Wood is 7-6 with a 3.58 ERA, 3.55 FIP and 1.17 WHIP while striking out 107 and walking 30 in 123.1 innings. He is 6-1 with a 2.48 ERA in his last nine starts, so he was pitching the best he had all season before going down with the injury.

With Wood returning, the Dodgers are shuffling the deck a bit by sending Kenta Maeda and Ross Stripling to the bullpen, where a tremendous void has been left by Kenley Jansen’s absence as he recovers from a heart issue.
