Dodgers Injuries: Gavin Lux, AJ Pollock Day-To-Day For Padres Series

The Los Angeles Dodgers may have momentum behind a six-game winning streak heading into their National League West showdown against the San Diego Padres, but they also are dealing with injuries to Cody Bellinger, Gavin Lux and AJ Pollock.

Bellinger is eligible to come off the 10-day injured list Friday, however it is not considered a likely scenario. “I’m not going to say zero, but it’s close to that number,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said of the likelihood Bellinger is activated during the weekend set at Petco Park.

As for Lux, he was scratched from the lineup on Thursday due to a sore right wrist. Lux did appear in the win over the Colorado Rockies, though only as a pinch-runner for Pollock.

“AJ went down the line early in the game to leg out a single and his left groin tightened up a little bit,” Roberts explained after the game. “We were talking, to get a guy on second base and potentially get a couple extra runs on a base hit, I just felt that Gavin had a little something before the game — felt something in his wrist, so he’s going to be day to day — so I wanted to stay away from him with the bat and fielding.

“I felt if he was unavailable to do anything else, I wanted him to run for AJ to not further any injury for AJ, and get Gavin in there for a potential base hit.”

Like Lux, Pollock is considered day-to-day with the left groin tightness. “I think we got ahead of it,” Roberts said. “He’s had some issues throughout his career at different points, but we got ahead of it be careful. [Friday], once he wakes up and gets to the ballpark, gets some treatment, we’ll know more.”

Dodgers taxi squad

Should the Dodgers need to place Pollock on the 10-day IL, they presumably would recall DJ Peters for his first experience at the big league level. The outfielder is due to be among the players on the Dodgers taxi squad for the road trip.

Peters will be joined by Brusdar Graterol, Sheldon Neuse and Keibert Ruiz.
