Dodgers Highlights: Yasiel Puig Hits Home Run In First Game Off Disabled List Against Braves

For the third straight game, the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Atlanta Braves by beating them 5-1 on Saturday night behind a stellar outing from Alex Wood.

In what was his first game in about three weeks coming off the disabled list, Yasiel Puig led the way for the Dodgers offensively. He hit a sacrifice fly to deep right in his first plate appearance against Braves starter Max Fried to give Los Angeles a 1-0 lead in the second inning.

Puig then came up in the sixth inning and did even more damage, launching a two-run home run to left field.

Puig accounted for four of the Dodgers five runs on the day, driving in three, one of which was himself on the homer, and then scoring another run later in the game on an RBI-single by Chris Taylor.

Wood had all of his stuff working on the night, allowing just one hit in 5.2 innings of work. He struggled a bit with control, walking four hitters, although none of them came around to score and he struck out five.

The left-hander has been on a roll as of late, improving to 6-0 in his last eight starts after going through what he called was the toughest stretch of his career.

In addition to Puig, the top of the Dodgers lineup also got the job done at the plate with Taylor and Manny Machado combining to go 4-for-7 with three walks on the night.
